Kamio Ryutaro (Watari Tetsuya) is the director of Kamio Hospital, a hospital along the Edo River which has been in the family for two generations. Shinjiro blames his brother for the death of his daughter, Mari, 21 years ago. After Mari’s death, his wife Sawako (Kotegawa Yuko) passed away too and Shinjiro abandoned his hometown.
